The recorded vocalizations that started it all are known as the Sierra Sounds. Immortalized in his landmark book/CD "Voices in the Wilderness", Ron Morehead, along with investigative reporter Alan Berry, recorded hours of reel-to-reel audio tapes in 1972 and 1974 at a hunting camp high in the remote Sierra Mountains of California. Those recordings have since been proven authentic and not manufactured or enhanced (Dr. R. Lynn Kirlin, a professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Wyoming) and outside the normal human range. They have also been thoroughly analyzed by a language expert (Professor and former U.S. Navy crypto-linguist Scott Nelson, Wentworth College, Missouri) as having complex language unrelated to any known human language.
